Introduction: The Pattern of ‘Gospel’ (Injil) in the Qur’an as a Sign from Allah

When I first read the Qur’an it struck me in various ways.  First of all, there were rather many explicit and direct references to the Injil (Gospel or New Testament).  But the specific pattern by which the Qur’an cited ‘the Injil’ also intrigued me.  Below are all the ayat in the Qur’an that directly mention ‘Gospel’ (Injil).  Perhaps you may notice the pattern that I noticed. Note: I am using the Yusuf Ali translation.

It is He Who sent down to you (step by step), in truth, the Book, confirming what went before it; and He sent down the Law (of Moses) and the Gospel (of Jesus) before this, as a guide to mankind, and He sent down the Criterion (of judgment between right and wrong).  Then those who reject faith in the Signs of Allah will suffer the severest penalty  [Surat 3:3-4 (Al-Imran)]

And Allah will teach him [Jesus] the Book and Wisdom, the Law and the Gospel [Surat 3:48 (Al Imran)]

You People of the Book! Why do you dispute about Abraham, when the Law and the Gospel were not revealed till after him? [Surat 3:65 (Al Imran)]

And in their footsteps [the prophets] We sent Jesus the son of Mary, confirming the Law that had come before him:  We sent him the Gospel: therein was guidance and light, and confirmation of the Law that had come before him: a guidance and an admonition to those who fear Allah  [Surat 5:46 (Maida)]

If only they [People of the Book] had stood fast by the Law, the Gospel, and all the revelation that was sent them from the Lord.  [Surat 5:66 (Maida)]

Oh people of the Book! You have no ground to stand upon unless you stand fast by the Law, the Gospel and all the revelation that has come to you from your Lord  [Surat 5:68 (Maida)]

Behold I [Allah] taught you [Jesus] the Book and Wisdom, the Law and the Gospel..  [Surat 5:110 (Maida)]

.. A promise binding on Him in Truth, through the Law, the Gospel, and the Qur’an  [Surat 9:111 (Tauba)]

This is their similitude in the Taurat [Law], and their similitude in the Gospel is: like a seed which sent forth its blade, then makes it strong, it then becomes thick, and it stands on its own stem  [Surat 48:29 (Fat-h)]

Notice how in all the references to the Gospel (or Injil) that ‘Gospel’ never stands alone.  In every instance the term ‘the Law’ precedes it.   ‘The Law’ is the books of Musa (Moses), commonly known as ‘Taurat’ amongst Muslims and ‘Torah’ amongst the Jewish people.  The Injil (Gospel) stands unique among all the Holy Books in this regard: The Holy Qur’an never mentions it in isolation, but only after mentioning ‘Taurat’ (Law).  But, you can find references to the Taurat (Law), and Qur’an that stand alone.  Here are some examples.

We gave Moses the Book completing to those who would do right, and explained all things in detail and this is a Book which we have revealed as a blessing: so follow it and be righteous, that you may receive mercy  [Surat 6:154-155 (Cattle)]

Do they not consider the Qur’an (with care)?  Had it been from other than Allah they would surely have found within much discrepancy  [Surat 4:82 (The Women)]

So, we find that when the Qur’an mentions the ‘Gospel’, it always says it just after ‘the Law’.  ‘Gospel’ never stands alone in the Qur’an. This is unique because the Qur’an can mention itself without referring to the other Holy Books. Likewise, it can also refer to the Law (Taurat) without also mentioning the other Holy Books.

The Pattern is Upheld even in the one exception

Only one exception to this pattern exists in the entire Qur’an.  Notice how the following ayah mentions ‘Gospel’.

‘And we sent Noah and Abraham and established in their line Prophethood and Revelation and some of them were on right guidance but many of them became rebellious transgressors’.  Then in their wake [Noah, Abraham & the prophets] we followed them up with our Messengers.  We sent after them Jesus the son of Mary, and bestowed on him the Gospel; and we ordained in the hearts of those who followed him compassion and mercy.  [Surat 57:26-27 (Hadid)]

This is the only instance of ‘Gospel’ (or ‘Injil’) not directly preceded by ‘the Law’. But the context of this ayah confirms the pattern.  The preceding ayah (26) refers to the prophets Nouh and Ibrahim (Abraham) before referring to ‘Gospel’.  But the Taurat (or Law) contains the accounts and words of the prophets Nouh and Ibrahaim.  So, even in this exception, the pattern remains because the Law’s content precedes the mention of ‘Gospel’.

A Sign for us from the Prophets?

So is this pattern significant?  Some may just dismiss it as a random occurrence or just a polite custom.  I have learned to take patterns like this in the Books seriously.  Rather it is an important sign for us, to help us realize a principle established by Allah himself. He set this pattern so we realize that we can only understand the Injil by first going to the Taurat.  It is like the Taurat is a prerequisite before we can understand the Injil.  It may be worthwhile then to first review the Taurat to prepare us to then understand the Injil (Gospel).  The Qur’an tells us that these early prophets were a ‘Sign’ for us.  Consider what it says:

O you children of Adam! Whenever there come to you Messengers from amongst you, rehearsing my Signs to you – those who are righteous and mend their lives – on them shall be no fear nor shall they grieve.  But those who reject Our Signs and treat them with arrogance – they are Companions of Fire, to dwell therein forever  [Surah 7:35-36 (The Heights)]

In other words, these prophets had Signs on their life with messages for the Children of Adam (us!). Those who are wise and prudent will seek to understand these signs.  So let us consider the Injil by going via the Taurat (Law) first. We review the first prophets from the beginning to see what Signs they have given us. Our goal is to learn the Straight Way which Surah Al-Fatihah talks about.

We start right at the beginning with the creation of mankind. Then we continue with the Signs of Adam, Cain & Abel, Noah, Lut and the Signs of Ibrahim (I, II, III).  Alternatively, you may want to start by exploring whether the Taurat, Zabur and Injil (that make up the al-Kitab or Bible) were corrupted.  What does the Holy Qur’an say about this important question?  And the Sunnah?  And information from the science of textual criticism?  Why not take the opportunity to get informed?

  1. As we can see the HOLY QUR’AN is rectifying us our bad and negetive concept on both the HOLY BOOKS from the TAWRAT, the INJIL and the QUR’AN. so lets pray that God help us and put us in the right path. amen

  2. FOR YOUR INFORMATION: the “injil” mentioning in the holy Qur’an is the injil of jesus (may the peace and blessings of ALLAH be upon him), not the injil of mattew, luke, mark and jhon or even the books of st.Paul that what we have today…
“And (remember) when Allah will say (on the day of resurrection); ‘O Jesus, the son of Mary, did you say unto men: worship me and my mother as two gods besides Allah?’” He (Jesus) will say: Glory is to you! It was not for me to say what i had no right (to say). Had I say such a thing, You would surely, have known it. You know what is in my inner-self though I do not know what is in Yours; truly, You, only You, are the All-Knower of all that is hidden (and unseen).
    Surah Al-Ma’idah:116

    1. salaam mohammad
Thank you so much for your comment. I am not sure it is wise to so quickly dismiss the Injil of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. As I show in the post on the disciples of Isa (https://al-injil.net/blog/2012/06/26/did-paul-or-other-writers-of-the-books-in-new-testament-corrupt-the-injil/) the Holy Qur’an in fact recognizes the writings of the disciples of Isa al Masih (PBUH) as inspired. The Qur’an says of them:

When Jesus found Unbelief on their part He said: “Who will be My helpers to (the work of) God?” Said the disciples: “We are God’s helpers: We believe in God, and do thou bear witness that we are Muslims. Our Lord! we believe in what Thou hast revealed, and we follow the Apostle; then write us down among those who bear witness.” (Surat 3:52-53 – Al-Imran)
And behold I inspired the Disciples to have faith in me and mine messenger (Isa): they said, “We have faith, and you bear witness that we bow to Allah as Muslims (Surat 5:114 – Table Spread)

I hope you will take a look at this post as it is helpful to be informed of this perspective from the Qur’an.

But to the larger question (which I think you are indirectly asking) – how can we ‘properly’ understand the ‘true’ injil? The fact that the prophet Isa al-Masih (PBUH) came in the line of prophets who proceeded him shows that we need to understand him and his message in the light of these previous prophets. As I showed above, the fact that the Qur’an always mentions ‘injil’ following the ‘Taurat’ shows that we need to go to the Taurat first. Then we are on safe ground to understand an uncorrupted injil. The ayah you quote (al-Maida: 116) rebukes the idea that there are many gods. The Taurat explicitly confirms this

Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. (Deuteronomy 6:4)

So any teachings of other gods would be a corruption. This is why I am starting with the Signs of Prophets in the Taurat – so that we all can understand and know what they wrote and then when we get to the Injil we are better prepared to understand what is written there. I hope you will take the time to study these Signs of the Prophets from the Taurat. All messages from Allah are important to know and submit to.

I believe there are some truth in the Torah and NT. After all it is from ALLAH as confirmed by The Holy Quran.

The Original Torah and Gospel is part of The Furqan [Bible], mentioned in HQ-03:04, 02:53, 21:48 which was given to first Prophet Noah and all the prophets mentioned in HQ-06:83 – 89.

The Book was made into scattered writings [HQ-06:91], meaning what it is now, can u explain to me, how can The Book AKA Bible is reliable?

Furhermore, if you read The HQ-05:48-49 – ALLAH say that The Holy Quran supercede / dominate The Book and we must rule according to the Quran and not to follow of those former people.

*مهيمنا – meaning supercede / dominate and guarding

    Regards

    1. Salam Saleh

Thanks for your thoughts – they show a reflective and careful, as well as polite, spirit. Now I think in there you are asking me why I believe the Bible is reliable? I guess I have many reasons, each of which are compelling on their own, and taken collectively they are very strong. However, most people are not aware of many of the facts. I would suggest as a start that you look on the videos in my post on the scientific reasons for Biblical reliability. That at least would give you some basic background information upon which you could build your own convictions. I am uploading another university presentation I did recently on Old Testament (Taurat & Zabur). I will put the link to it shortly. That will give some more information.
My thoughts on why I do not believe the Qur’an supercedes the Bible is given in this link here. Perhaps you may disagree with me on the points I raise there, but since you at least recognize that there is ‘some truth’ in Taurat I would encourage you to read the studies I put together on it. You have nothing to lose and you will become better informed – and that is half the battle for all of us 🙂
      Allah’s blessings to you
      Ragnar

    2. Brothers and sisters i think that you might believe in the last kitab that was reviled last. for me i believe all the four Quran books but now our last prophet Muhammad salallaho alayhy wasalam Tawrat was reviled to him and so on we should really focus on the last book that was reviled to prophet Muhammad salallaho alayhy wasalam thanks for all of you!

@The Pattern of ‘Gospel’ (Injil) in the Qur’an as a Sign from Allah
    > How could are you that al Injiila is the GOSPEL …?
    I believe if :
    1. The Old Testament IS NOT the true TORAH….
    2. The NEW Testament IS NOT the true AL INJIILA that mentioned in QUR’AN
Now, can you explain to meto prove ALKITAB equal GOSPEL that have 4 author …? how can GOSPLE is reliable?

    1. HI Soepandinata
Thank you for your interest in al injil and taking the time to leave comments and questions. Your questions are very good. May I suggest for 1) that you look in my article on what does the Sunnah say about al kitab In that article, for example, I cite a hadith
Narrated Abdullah Ibn Umar: ..A group of Jews came and invited the Apostle of Allah (PBUH) to Quff. … They said: ‘AbulQasim, one of our men has committed fornication with a woman; so pronounce judgment upon them’. They placed a cushion for the Apostle of Allah (PBUH) who sat on it and said: “Bring the Torah”. It was then brought. He then withdrew the cushion from beneath him and placed the Torah on it saying: “I believed in thee and in Him Who revealed thee.” Sunan Abu Dawud Book 38, No. 4434:
So if prophet Muhammad (pbuh) believed in the taurat as it was in his day (ca 620 AD) it would seem to me that it would be un-islamic to think otherwise. If you then look at my article on the science of textual criticism you will see that the taurat we have today is the same as existed in 200 BC (in Dead Sea Scrolls). So this means that Taurat as today is the same as Taurat in time of prophet Muhammad (since he was 800 years after Dead Sea scrolls and they are the same as today). It seems to me by the way you ask your question that you think that there is no way to know an answer. But there is.
Re. your question 2. May I refer you to my article on 4 gospels for one injil and also the gospel according to whom. I think they address the question you raise.
      Allah’s blessings to you

    1. Hi Inshan
Thanks for taking the time to ask your questions. The short answer is that Isa is only one and there is only one of him. As to whether he wrote the injil may I refer you to my article
      Allah’s blessings

  6. The Quran talks about the injiil so that people (both followers of taurat, injiil and quran) to get lessons from his teachings in both books. However it should be noted that the Quran is the only reference book that we ought to read. The prophet (PBUH) once saw Uma (R.A) reading some scripts of the gospel and he became annoyed. He told him to only refer to the Quran since most of the scripts had been tampered with and all the (original) teachings in the Gospel are found in the Quran.
If any one is still in doubt of what i say, please wait for Issah Massih (to descend) and he will be the to prove us either right/wrong. Allah knows best. Assalamu Aleikum.

    1. Salaam wa alaikum Akhum
THank you for your comment. I understand what you are saying, but if you look at my article on what the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) did and said about Taurat you will see that there is good reason to both read and take seriously the books of Taurat, Zabur & Injil. And the passages (cited here) in Qur’an tell us that it came to confirm, not replace, the books of Taurat, Zabur and Injil. Given that there is good examples for this, what is there to lose by learning from Taurat, Zabur & Injil?

  7. Quote:
“What stands out when you place all the references to the Gospel from the Qur’an together is that the ‘Gospel’ never stands alone. In every instance the term ‘the Law’ precedes it. ‘The Law’ is the books of Musa (Moses), commonly known as ‘Taurat’ amongst Muslims and ‘Torah’ amongst the Jewish people. ”
The Injeel (Gospel) is not a book of religion, it is a book of knowledge ABOUT the religion of Moses, it is in essence an explanation of the inner meanings of the verses of the Torah this is why it is never mentioned alone. It doesn’t stand alone. Also note that while the book of Moses is described as having been corrupted the Injeel isn’t – this is because the Torah is an actual written book that can be corrupted while the Injeel, not being a book of religion was probably never recorded as such and hence can not be corrupted nor forged. There simply isn’t one around to forge.

    1. Hi Moayidd
Thanks for you comment and the perspective you take. The Injil was however written down. Notice how the Gospel of Luke starts. It commences with “Many have undertaken to draw up an account of the things that have been fulfilled[a] among us, 2 just as they were handed down to us by those who from the first were eyewitnesses and servants of the word. 3 With this in mind, since I myself have carefully investigated everything from the beginning, I too decided to write an orderly account for you, most excellent Theophilus, 4 so that you may know the certainty of the things you have been taught.” Luke wrote things down in an orderly way so that we may know what happened with certainty. The Gospel of John is similar but this time it is stated at the very end of his book, which closes with ” This is the disciple who testifies to these things and who wrote them down. We know that his testimony is true. Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written.” (John 22:24-25)

So we do have an injil that was written down for us so we could know what happened.

      1. that is it ~! you already explain who is the writer of your bible, human being with all their weaknesses.

The qur’an is also written by human beings with all their weaknesses, but certainly with the great helve of Allah.

What prove do i have about this ?. simple answer is. how many have you seen moslems who can memorize the content of holly Qur’an.

The whole content of Al QUR’AN was memorized by our prophet Muhammad, and his Sahabahs, some written on goat skin and on stone, and in order to maintain its originality from the same language used by prophet Muhammad the other scriptures in different Arab dialect had been destroyed. Al quran even with so many translation still kept that way untill today.

but tell me something about your bible. how can you explain the part or chapter of “Roman” when is this written. these are certainly not from the old bible mentioned by Al qur’an. this is written by what you believe to be messengers of god after the death of your God Jesus. these are the teachings that Allah Through Al quran said to have been corrupted from the teaching of Isa AS.

It is important for the church and the kingdom of the christian to have you all have faith in Jesus as god, otherwise the pope is no longer a prophet.

Read and try to find out who is the story teller of Al qur’an. is it Muhammad, was it the the sahabahs, who writes it and to whom the story told to. only after you read it that way you will find out the truth about Al Qur’an. or at least if after you have read it you still think it was written by Muhammad
you can imagine that Muhammad which moslems believe to be illiterate must have been a great writer and great story teller, the greatest philosopher ever, the greatest man in Arab linguistic, because of qur’an highly structural and wordings in Arabic.

may your search on truth guide you to the right pathway.

        1. THank you for excellent explanation of the reliability and preservation of the quran. So we agree that the Quran was preserved on skins and stones and that most Muslims can recite it. In that case what I am saying in this article is simply reinforced. Since the ayahs I refer to speak so highly of injil but do so after they mention Taurat should be a sign for us that we need to study Taurat. So let us leave the dispute about Romans (see my article here on Paul the author of Romans) Why start with the books we are not sure about and which might be contaminated when we have books there for us to study (Taurat of prophet Musa pbuh) that are clearly supported by Prophet Muhammad pbuh? Why not start with Prophet Adam as Quran and Taurat describe and seek to learn?

          1. Torah not talmud, injile not gospel. this is what quran want us to believe.

            i quote last paragraph.
“Why start with the books we are not sure about and which might be contaminated when we have books there for us to study (Taurat of prophet Musa pbuh) that are clearly supported by Prophet Muhammad pbuh? Why not start with Prophet Adam as Quran and Taurat describe and seek to learn?”

Ok let us start with the creation of adam. i think this is where the different really start between quran and your present bible created by st paul.

your bible said the knowledge Adam had was a curse due to his disobedient, to god command not to eat the fruit of knowledge. that sin inherited by all childen of adam, so by nature all men are sinners. so adam was created by god similar with all other god creation the only different is that he was made with the likeness of god. the god is like the roman god zeus. also your bible said god had to call adam since they were both hiding, your god do not know thing, and had to ask adam and eve why do you feel shy, before finding out that they have eaten the fruit of knowledge. is your god really not all knowing ? or is he simply play with adam that he does not know ?, why is your god have to pretend if he did?, what is this teach human, that even if we know we pretend as though that we do not know.

Quran said the intelectual blessed to adam was what made him greater than other god creations, better than angles, better than satan, but he was like new born baby can think but not knowing everything yet. so when satan persuade them he disobey god not to eat the fruit god command him not to. they did it out of curiosity, but when adam sincerely ask for forgiveness God forgive him already but like he promise they have go to earth as their punishment.
as to why satan persuade adam to eat the fruit it was because satan who did not obey god’s command to bow to adam. satan said to god who is about to punish him for his disobedient,, postpone my punishment to judgement day and i will misguide human for his quality of intelectuals given to them, god grant his wish and said you can not misguide the believers among them. i believe this conception of god suit my intelectual.

            1. Hi Syrhaul
I think it is better to deal with one thing at a time. First, Paul did not write Taurat. Story of Adam is in Taurat and this was written by prophet Musa (PBUH) over a thousand years before Paul lived. So it is confusing to bring Paul up when we are trying to learn about Adam. Then you jump into so many things that the text from Taurat simply does not say. (ie the taurat text does not say ‘sin inherited by all childen of adam’ as you say.) Please just stick with the text. Why can we not just read the prophetic text and learn from it? What harm is there in that? Take a look here is the link

            2. you are the first christian who said this

(ie the taurat text does not say ‘sin inherited by all childen of adam’ as you say.)

because most of christian believe so although they are not there, and there fore, human by nature is born sinner, and that,no good deed can save you from hell and the only way to go to heaven is by accepting jesus as the god the savior.

Paul did not write torah, also moses did not, they were written by moses follower. but Paul was a follower of talmud he must be familiar with torah,
since he was the man responsible of creating most part of new testament and the gathering of all pat of old testament, there is a great posibility he might have changed part of the old testament to suit his thought in new testament.

              i quote wikipedia :
According to writings in the New Testament Paul, who was originally called Saul, was dedicated to the persecution of the early disciples of Jesus in the area of Jerusalem.[10] In the narrative of the book of Acts, while Paul was traveling on the road from Jerusalem to Damascus on a mission to “bring them which were there bound unto Jerusalem”, the resurrected Jesus appeared to him in a great light. He was struck blind, but after three days his sight was restored by Ananias of Damascus, and Paul began to preach that Jesus of Nazareth is the Jewish Messiah and the Son of God.[11] Approximately half of the book of Acts deals with Paul’s life and works.

a man who persecuted jesus follower suddenly change his view 180 degrees.

this is what talmud believe of christ, there is more to it where it come from.

              P. 28 and 29: “In the Talmud, Christ is called
Otho Isch = “That Man.” “Someone called the child
as a Christian if he follows the teachings
false teachings of “the man” … (Abhodah Zarah). ”
“Akum of Maimonides (Rabbi Mozes ben Maimon,

the fact that terlaranglah to participate in

It commemorates the parties Talui, someone

              P. 30: “The Talmud teaches that Christ is the illegitimate child
and in the womb when a menstrual period
(was conceived during menstruation) that he is

              P. 34: “Then Jesus called the NAME of GOD and continue
              call up came the wind
lifted between earth and sky. Judas also
GREAT NAME OF GOD states and so is
lifted by the wind. Then Judas say
and took the name of the Lord Jesus and encourage
Jesus down, ie to earth. Jesus then try
to do the same to Judas and they
both were ultimately fighting. And when Judas
knowing that he can not win Jesus
then he urinated on Jesus and both are
              was not sacred anymore it finally fell to the earth;
Also it can no longer they use the name
holy God again until they purify themselves
itself. “(And when Judas PBUH he could not win
over the works of Jesus he pissed on Jesus and
both being unclean fell to earth; nor could
they use the Divine name again until they had
              washed Themselves). ”

Do those who believe in the lie
              wicked deserve hatred or belas-
pity larger, it can not me
              Say nothing.

              P. 35: “In the book SANHEDRIN (107 b) we read:
‘MAR say: Jesus is persuade tempting,
              corrupt and destroy Israel. ”

              P. 36: “The Book of Zohar III tells us that Jesus died
like animals and buried in a pile
were so dirty where they throw
the carcasses of dogs and donkeys, and where
              sons of Esau (ie Christians)
and Ismail (the Turks), ie they
              unclean and uncircumcised, buried like
              a dead dog. ”

              P. 39: “It is not permitted (= forbidden) to submit
or take your hat off in front of the king or
pastor who wore a cross on clothing
them. Should be considered not to
              otherwise it can look like
ini.Umpama one can / should throw
several pieces of coins on the ground,
then bent to pick it up before
they passed. In a case like this then
              allowed for bending or lifting
hat in front of them. ”

              P. 40: “A written law of the Nasara
is “If a Jew hit on
a cheek, the other also palingkanlah ”
              (I’ve never seen Christians
comply with this law, so did Jesus himself
do not do it. I get on BOOK
DEEDS apostles XXIll, paragraph 3, that the Imam
Large ordered them to stand in
nearby to slap his mouth, Paul
turn the other cheek; he condemned.
This is contrary to the belief
they and undermine the foundations or principles
              where their religion was upheld.

how can a man who considered himself the opponent becomes an apostle.

by making jesus as son of god who sacrifice himself voluntarily to wash sins of human kind.

this man had killed two birds with one stone.

instead of condemning the killing of jesus the prophet of god, christian no longer blame jews for what they have cruelly done to jesus and his follower, and he became a saint.

also because he know that talmud follower also believe in the final mesiah, he want to make his new teaching become accepted by some of the talmud follower.

when the last mesiah come (the king of jews) and all mankind become slaves of jews. jesus is a jew, and also paul. and the follower of jews mesiah will be the slave of jews.

i quote the above, simply to let you know that in order to find out truth we have to use our god greatest give (intelectuals), use it to find the right pathway, to support our way of life in this world and also teach us to behave for the purpose of after life.

Moosa (Moses) is mentioned 136 times in Al-Quran and Taurait (Taurait) is mentioned 18 times. However they both are never mentioned together 😉 Which again concludes that just like many other attributes given by Allah/The-God to His words, these mentioned above are also in the list.

    4. After reading the coran and bible, this is my conclusion:
      – The coran contains a lot wonderful passages that are already known from the bible. However it contains as well passages that oppose Jews and Christian faith.
-The bible does not give any mention about Islam. Neither in negative nor in positive way. The focus of the bible is rather holiness, righteousness, love of God and others, forgiveness, kindness and eternal life and Jesus as son of God and believer as children of God.
      – The bible gives more details and understanding on many passages found in the coran. I would encourage a lot of Muslims to read the bible.
      – To know whether the bible or the coran is reliable or not is a waste of energy and time? Use this time to read the bible with an open mind and get the whole picture of what God is saying in the Bible. And if you are sincere you will see how it will change your life.We reconize a tree by the fruit it produces.
      God bless you

      1. to me from your comment the only prove you gave out is that not only never read quran, you also never read your own bible. because for your information all your quote about bible “holiness, righteousness, love of God and others, forgiveness, kindness and eternal life” this are what you will find in Quran. while in what youcall holy bible you should at least try to find out why bible is said to be like a porn book and condemned by your own intelectuals not to be read by childrens. if you do not want to read quran is ok but at least read yiur own bible, you will thank me in the end believe me.

        1. No need to get nasty… Actually thought what you say is exactly correct. Taurat does give accounts of what people do that are absolutely shocking. When you read what some did you can be angry, bewildered or revolted. So the prophets who recorded the events of Taurat are not hiding the evil deeds of people. They are written there plainly. Yet in Taurat, Zabur and Injil God (allah) still forgives! That does illustrate the mercy and forgiveness of God. To show mercy and forgiveness when no wrong has been committed – anyone can do that, even the most narrow minded of humans. But to forgive when people commit absolutely evil crimes is stunning. For this reason I believe in the forgiveness, love and mercy of God (allah)- not because people are presented in a good light, but because in spite of their wickedness God forgives – if they submit to His mercy. In our day of beheadings, chemical weapons, women and girls captured as sex slaves everyday in the news that should tell us that mankind has not changed much from time of Taurat. ANd it can also give us hope in that God will show us Mercy and love

          1. i quote you .”No need to get nasty”
i do not see which of my words, i said was nasty, i simply want him to read his bible before making his arguments. and if you found my words are nasty, than i beg for your pardon, i did not mean it that way.

but i disagree with you that god have to be so vulgar. (it is simply human word).

Taurat are not hiding the evil deeds of people. They are written there plainly. Yet in Taurat, Zabur and Injil God (allah) still forgives!

Holly book supposed to be read and followed by human including children, why god has to use that kind of words ?, what is he supposed to teach?. this only proof that bible is man creation.

    5. While we have received in the form of Noble Quran, as a final Scripture from our Lord, then why should we recite any Old one?

Lessons from the Holy Quran are being posted by me in the website u/r. Please visit: Mankind is Viceroy of the Creator on Earth

        1. I agree with you ragnar, because as moslem i have to have faith in the propeths of Allah and faith in their holly books. but in part i also have to agree with Mohammad sharif. since when i read bibles, i did not find what i find in Quran. namely.1. Quran words from the beggining to the end only consist of words of gabriel that speak the words of Allah to Prophet muhammad (pbuh). It was niot a story told by Muhammad or some one else. (Read the quran carefully and you will know exactly what i mean). but in the bible i did not know who is the story teller, and who withness it and even the writer in many instances seems to know exactly what god feel. as though the writer is god himself. 2. there are no contradiction in Quran from the beginning to the end. while in bible so many contradiction in almost every chapter. one example it is said in the bible that Abram become abraham and circumcised himself including the whole family in the age of ninety, at the same time his son ismael also circumcised, ismael said to be 13 years old. while on the other hand it was also said that abram had Ismael from her wife slave Hagar at the age of 86. and in other chapter it is said that when sara envy Ismael playing with ishak that time ishak was 2 years old whuich mean ismael must be at least 16 years old because Abraham had ishak at the age of 100. what is funny and unbelievable is that when abraham hand the ransom to hagar he also put Ismael at hagar shoulder. (a 16 years old boy —- how strong is abraham and hagar imagine). this only prove that bible has been corrupted and not to be beleived as holy book anymore. in that way i have to agree with muhammad sharief

          1. Hi Syahrul
THank you for your thoughtful comment (and the others which I will look at shortly). You make two large points here 1) Bible is different than Quran (eg Quran revealed in entirety by Jibril and not so for bible etc.). To that I totally agree. But does God (Allah) not have the authority, power and the means to do different things in different way, in different times? Did he not choose a Jewish line of prophets in Taurat and Zabur? Having started with Jews does this mean He can never change that precedent and must only stick to Jews? Of course you do not believe that for then the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) would be eligible. So we have to agree to let God be God and He has the authority to call prophets in different ways and to reveal the books in different manners. The Prophet Musa (PBUH) was revealed the Taurat on Mount Sinai. But that does not mean all later prophets must also receive on Mount Sinai. So the fact that there are differences in manner of revelation and language and style of writing does not mean that they are not Holy and inspired by God.
Secondly, you take the story of prophet Ibrahim (PBUH) in Taurat to show a contradiction. The contradiction (as I understand how you say it) is that how can a 16-year old boy be on the shoulders of a 100+ year old man. But if you read the account carefully it says “Early the next morning Abraham took some food and a skin of water and gave them to Hagar. He set them on her shoulders and then sent her off with the boy” (prophet Ishmael – pbuh) (Genesis 21: 14). So it is not the boy Ishmael who is on the shoulders of Ibrahim or Hagar. The food and water for Hagar and Ishamel is on her shoulders. Does that not make sense? How does that ‘prove a corruption’?

            1. i quote your bible genesis chapter 21.

14 And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and took bread, and a bottle of water, and gave it unto Hagar, putting it on her shoulder, and the child, and sent her away: and she departed, and wandered in the wilderness of Beersheba.

so let say your interpretation here right although i doubt it because of the sentence.

but how can you explain the next verse.casting a child. (sixteen years old boy. may be good if he is not more than seven or nine years old top. but sixteen years ?.

15 And the water was spent in the bottle, and she cast the child under one of the shrubs.

              1. Great question. Taurat was written in Hebrew about 3500 years ago (therefore it is not ‘my’ bible but belongs as the root for all monotheists). It was first translated from Hebrew -> English in 1611AD and that translation is called the ‘King James version’ (see my article here on the ‘many versions’ of bible). That was over 400 years ago. Since then the English language usage and meaning of words has changed greatly. Even in my day certain words have changed meaning immensely (e.g. when I was young ‘gay’ meant ‘happy’ and you will read in places in the King James about ‘gay’ men and get the wrong idea). You are quoting from this King James Version and thus you are using 400 year old English and it is confusing. If you want to let the meaning of the text come out then use a translation that has been done more recently so that the English of the translators is the same as yours and mine. Here is this verse in translations done on our day.

15 When the water in the skin was gone, she put the boy under one of the bushes. (New International Version)
15 When the water was gone, she put the boy in the shade of a bush.(New Living Translation)
15 When the water in the skin was used up, she left the boy under one of the bushes. (New American Standard Bible)
15 When the water in the skin was gone, she put the child under one of the bushes. (English Standard Version)

                (And we still have the original Hebrew – here it is (15 וַיִּכְל֥וּ הַמַּ֖יִם מִן־הַחֵ֑מֶת וַתַּשְׁלֵ֣ךְ אֶת־הַיֶּ֔לֶד תַּ֖חַת אַחַ֥ד הַשִּׂיחִֽם׃)
So it is an issue of translation. This is exactly the same issue in the translation of Holy Quran into English. What are the ‘huris’ of Surah 56 which ALlah gives to those of his Right Hand? Here is what the various translations tells us for 56:37

Dr. Ghali Chastely amorous, like of age,
Muhsin Khan Loving (their husbands only), equal in age.
                Pickthall Lovers, friends,
Sahih International Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age,
                Shakir Loving, equals in age,
Yusuf Ali Beloved (by nature), equal in age,

Same arab original text gives different English translations. And these translations are all done in the last 80 years when English has not changed much. Yusuf Ali is the earliest from the 1930s. So it is a good idea (in my opinion) to look at various translations and especially the later ones since ENglish has not had a chance to change much since then.
                Hope this makes sense.

              2. i bet you would also have the same explanation regarding this verse. but never mind because the translater who translate these certaintly mistaken ismael as a small child, or is he is really a small boy. that time.

18 Arise, lift up the lad, and hold him in thine hand; for I will make him a great nation.

now your bible always said that abraham once moved to kanaan never go back to egypt, but on the other hand, he met abimelech paraoh of egypt, to settle the dispute about the water well. found by hagar and ismael. which is was believed to be dug by abraham.
                genesis chapter 21
                25. And Abraham reproved Abimelech because of a well of water, which Abimelech’s servants had violently taken away.
27 And Abraham took sheep and oxen, and gave them unto Abimelech; and both of them made a covenant.

                1. (You keep saying ‘my bible’. I did not write it. It is the Taurat as it has been preserved in texts that that are over 2200 years old – see here).
If we read the account carefully it does not say that Abimelech is Pharaoh of Egypt. In fact, in chapter 20 (you quoted from ch 21) it says

Now Abraham moved on from there into the region of the Negev and lived between Kadesh and Shur. For a while he stayed in Gerar, … Then Abimelek king of Gerar sent for Sarah and took her.

So Abimilech is in Negev which today is in southern Israel. Later, in ch 21 v 32 (just after the verses you quoted) it says Abimelech went back to land of ‘Philistines’. This today is Gaza. So if we look at the map the events of Ch 21-22 are not in Egypt but in what today is southern Israel and Gaza. This does not mean that Abraham never went back to Egypt (where he was in Ch 12). He may have made visits there for all we know, but he did not live there.

                2. i said your bible, i am reffering to the present bible followed by christians. because you may also know that a muslim is not a muslim if he does not believe in torah and injille.

about abraham, you also know that according to your bible,he was abram not yet abraham untill he moved to kanaan. at the age of ninety nine after he moved to kanaan than he got circumcised, along with ishmael and the rest of man in the family. who was then 13 years of age.

but then quran said ismael his fist born son was supposed to be the offering to god by abraham instead of ishak.

your bible seem to get influence by talmud which said that only jews are considered man in the eyes of their god.so ismael was never abraham legitimate child.because the only son of abraham is the one he got from sara. so ishak is abraham only child.

torah is god revelation to moses but talmud is what jews rabbi think higher than torah and they consist of thought of their rabbi.

It does not mean i insisted on making claim that quran is right and your bible is wrong, the reason i studied your bible,to find out what is wrong in those two,why they some time look similar but in a whole context they are in contradiction.

since i believe muhammad is an illiterate, how could an illiterate create a book with such an amazing thought, with not even one of todays scholars can create something similar.

the only answer to that question is to learn more of the teaching background, of christian bible and torah.

                  1. Hi Syahrul

I sense we are converging (at least in this thread of comments). One thing I would suggest is that Talmud has nothing to do with formation of Bible (al kitab). THe Taurat was written about 1500 BC by prophet Musa (PBUH), the books of zabur were written in period 1000 – 400 BC. The books of injil were written 50 – 80 AD (there is some disagreement here but it is only + or – a decade or so). We have manuscript copies of all of these books in bible (Taurat, zabur and injil) that are very old. Dead Sea scrolls (Taurat & ZAbur) are 200 -100 BC. Copies of injil are found dating from 125 AD. Nothing to do with religion or belief, but just from the copies of manuscripts from these eras that we can see today (in museums around the world) we know what the text of the bible was by 200 AD. The Talmud was formed after this so the Talmud could not make an influence on the bible. Talmud did influence Jewish interpretation of bible but not the text itself. Here is a short quote from wikipedia giving dates of Talmud

The Talmud has two components: the Mishnah (Hebrew: משנה, c. 200 CE), a written compendium of Rabbinic Judaism’s Oral Torah (Talmud translates literally as “instruction” in Hebrew); and the Gemara (c. 500 CE), an elucidation of the Mishnah and related Tannaitic writings that often ventures onto other subjects and expounds broadly on the Hebrew Bible. The term “Talmud” may refer to either the Gemara alone, or the Mishnah and Gemara together.

So Talmud was put together long after the bible. Therefore it could not affect the text of the bible (though it did affect Jewish scholar interpretation). make sense?

                  2. ok you made clear about the date although not 100 % because torah was not written by moses, but by follower of moses. if you judge from the wording. (most gods word dictate to moses sounded the same way of the quran). but the case is not true to the entire torah. some are man addition words, you can easily judge from the wordings if you are keen enough.
and those books were written between 1312 to 1280 bc. during moses lifetime.

although you believe it to be in consistency with the death sea scroll. it is still can not be proof to be 100 % words of god.

if you are keen some verse not only you will find the wording sound different but mostly inconsistent with other chapters

the quotation below may help you to confirm it.:

Jews believe that God dictated the Torah to Moses on Mount Sinai 50 days after their exodus
from Egyptian slavery. They believe that the Torah shows how God wants Jews to live. It

contains 613 commandments and Jews refer to the ten best known of these as the ten 10 commandments

On that day, G-d revealed Himself to the entire Jewish people (which included some 600,000
adult men, in addition to women, children and the aged) and declared to them the Ten Commandments. Afterwards, Moses ascended Mount Sinai where, for forty days, G-d taught him

the entire Written and Oral Torah. Later, on Yom Kippur, Moses descended with the second

tablets of the Ten Commandments and began to teach the people what he heard from G-d on
                    Mount Sinai.statements.

the teaching of moses has no religious name. never mention any religion in all those words of god never mention a religion at all, it was only teaching of god to the jews so it was called Judaism.

as far as i know from this torah (old testament of your bible), the best part for paul to show christian (again christian is not a religion), about the godhood of jesus is from the isaiah chapter 53. because it is believed to be closed to devine his divinity.

but of course jews will not agree to that. why ?
                    1. the first two verses of this chapter can not be refrering to jesus.
53:1 Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed?
53:2 For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.

because you believe jesus is god this refer to human who believe in the teaching of god. whose god arms are around him.

the second verse is even further from jesus, because jesus was accepted by many jews and his desciples, how can he be described as human garbage, with nothing to see from him to be of interest.

                    2. the following verses :
53:6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.

53:7 He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.

53:8 He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken.

this is not jesus, because these are referring to jew who was sacrificed during the jews exodus, to those captured, and tortured, but kept their mouth shut, not to reveal the whereabout of the other jews.

because jesus open his mouth crying to lord during his crucifixion. he did not shut his mouth.

3 and the last verse how could it be jesus :
53:12 Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.

it is referring to the jew hero not jesus, because if you believe he is god, why is he only given part not whole portion of great.

                    4. christian seem to forget the previous chapter 52.which was talking exactly about jews rebellion against their slavery in egypt for centuries until moses finally come as their mesiah.

how can jesus fit to this he was not even there in time of moses.

those you believe in the new testament as you know most of them are works of paul. to support his theory in the first place. and whenever your church try to judge what is already in the bible and new scripture found they always use the same bench mark, so to determine the holiness of your bible, is not the question that it was the result of filtration but the filter it self must be questioned.

                    1. HI Syrahul
Thanks for your comments and they push into other areas. For sure there is disagreeement between Jews and Christians on interpretation and understanding of Old Testament. Passages like Isaiah 53 is a case in point. I am not picking one side over another here but simply want to acknowledge that a dispute about a text (eg Christian & Jew over Isaiah 53) is a separate issue over whether the text has been changed or corrupted by one of the parties. In this dispute, neither the Christians nor the Jews are accusing the other of changing the text. THis has been (and still is) an ancient Jewish text. Perhaps we can see this similar to religious disputes between sunni and shiites. There is dispute over meaning and interpretation of certain surahs and hadiths. But neither side is accusing the other side of changing the quran. There are not different ‘versions’ of the quran that each side has. Would this be a fair statement?

                    2. Hello brother Ragnar,

I am sorry for my previous words if any of them offended you. I can see that you are a person good to be an opponent, in an intellectual debate. although my words have been quite harsh, but you are commenting it like a true christian, with out showing your emotion. so i believe we can really be a good friend although we have different view towards each other’s opinion.

I am sorry i disagree with your example of disagreement between sunni and syiah both sunni and syiah never have any misunderstanding about al quran. but they may have misunderstanding about hadiths, as you know their real different is actually in their leaders. one leader insist in more hadiths to practice islam like the old days during Muhammad timeline, and some of them rely on their leaders interpretation of hadiths.

I my self think that how can we follow exactly like what practice in muhammad time line, fore instance Muhammad and his follower used to do shalah even while they were still in war. with todays modern technology, how could you do that.

but i understand the dispute between Jews and christian is not on the old testament, they are kept the way it is by both. but simply in interpretation.

what i mean is although your old testament is the same as torah, but torah compare to quran, has been changed. from the original. and about your new testament, quran only acknowledge us that nothing of the teaching of torah ever been changed by Jesus (Prophet of Allah),it was only meant to confirmed what was in torah and deny parts that was not in there in the first place. but your today new testament was not even wrote by jesus 11 desciples mostly the work of paul who never even met jesus in his life time.

let me give you an example of what have been changed in torah. in comparison to al quran.

                      Genesis chapter 1 verse:
26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

29 And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.

30 And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so.

these verse were in contradiction to chapter 2. where it was talking about creation of ADAM.

if the above verses, were really there, that would mean God created man before Adam to inhabit earth. because in chapter two adam was created to inhabit heaven.

it would mean that adam was not the first man on earth.

in comparison with alquran, al quran never said that god is like man. in fact quran said 99 names of Allah, to show his mights, and that Allah is indescribable with anything in the universe. and torah in some part also agree with this. when jews want to see god they only saw thunder and lightning.

logically speaking the description of god in quran is easily understandable, if god almighty is the creator of the universe from nothingness he must be greater than his creation, so it is easy to accept.

but describing god physical form like human, is to far from logic, why ?

we all know that it is not our physical form that make man the dominator of the earth. as a matter of fact in terms of physical form human could be the weakest among animals. for instance man is not as strong as horse, man is not as fast as leopard, or elephant, and man is even lower in comparison with frog, that can live underwater and above earth, or birds that could fly, and even not as strong as an ant which can lift 3 times of its body weight. even monkey is better than human in survival of the fittest if with out his intellectuals.

so believing that God physical condition is as weak as man is not logical. because it is never our physical form, that make human great it is always our intellectuals and fellings and free will. so human can create tools that could cover up human’s physical weakness,to be a dominant race on earth.

                  3. Hi look at some ridiculous and funny things about angel Gabriel of Koran: whose angel head can be covered with dust fighting and killing people with arms? Koran is the works of a man not from God. All Muslims should read the hadith to find the truth about their prophet

                    Narrated `Aisha:
When Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) returned on the day (of the battle) of Al-Khandaq (i.e. Trench), he put down his arms and took a bath. Then Gabriel whose head was covered with dust, came to him saying, “You have put down your arms! By Allah, I have not put down my arms yet.” Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said, “Where (to go now)?” Gabriel said, “This way,” pointing towards the tribe of Bani Quraiza. So Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) went out towards them .

                    Narrated Ibn `Abbas:
The Prophet (ﷺ) said on the day (of the battle) of Badr, “This is Gabriel holding the head of his horse and equipped with arms for the battle.

                    from Sahih bukhari

            2. REPENT for Jesus is LORD! If a man could be saved by any other than the WORD OF GOD: then you Muslims will have hope indeed. But Muhammad could not save even himself from a simple poison, which of course led to his death. How can such a powerless sinful man save the whole of humanity? Unless you REPENT, your worst fear has already overtaken you

            3. Salam
              And
              Hallo
              To John praise!
Dear John we praise and appreciate Jesus ( marry’s son) with same appreciation as Moses ( of Israelis)..
We consider Mohammad(Peace be on him ) as Savior .. and not consider him the God ( almighty)..we consider our prophet as the last prophet,in continuation of prophets,( like Jesus and Moses)..
So we consider that it was the God (Allah) willings
              that Mohammad (PBUH)
was eventually died like Moses and Jesus(..)
We believe that Holy Quran is last and final word from God.. almighty Allah the supreme creator, who created everything from nothing,i.e there were no matter..
              All the (prophets miracles)
in every simatic religion was given by Allah and was taken by Allah.
No prophet can perform miracle without the permission of Allah Almighty ..
              So regarding the Savior .
We consider Jesus and Moses the Savior But the last final
              Savior is Mohammad(PBUH)…
